Dogs are pack animals and in order to survive a dog's instincts tells it that there must be a hierarchy system
in place to insure the survival of the pack. Dogs know that there must be ALPHA rankings within the pack and someone
must take charge and make all the decisions. If you, the dog owner, does not show correct leadership skills with your dog, he/she
will challenge you for the role and this is where the stress, anxiety and behavioural problems stem from.
When you take the decision on to take on a dog then you will be making the decision to be the leaders of your family pack.
All children within the family must be of higher ranking than the dog as well.
Even though dogs are very intelligent creatures, their brain capacity is only that of the equivalent of a very
young child. Putting your dog in charge of the family pack would be like putting a 5 year old child in charge. The child would not cope with the enormous amount of pressure that such a role brings and neither does the dog. This pressure of being the leader is where most, if not all the dog behavioural problems stem from.
Nikki will show you how to re structure the family pack and follow the correct pecking order. She will educate you on how to give
the correct body language, signals and commands to show your dog that you are the leader.
The more dominant the dog, the less likely they will be at wanting to give up their status of leadership but will soon realise
and learn that they can relax and lead a stress free and happy life when the correct leader is in place and order is restored.
