Canine Behaviour Therapy What does it involve?
Canine behaviour Therapy is the application of psychological principals, to modify
a dogs behaviour in a pain free and practical way. Nikki will teach you how to correct your thoughts,
your behaviour and your body language when your dog displays a certain type of behaviour. Nikki will also
teach you the correct timings of using rewards, distraction and response substitution to get the results
you desire of changing your dog’s problem behaviour. She will give you an in depth knowledge and understanding
of how the dogs mind is working, which will enable you to communicate with your dog in the correct manner to
eradicate the problems you are facing in your relationship with your dog.
Canine Behaviour Therapy can help with the following issues:
- Aggression towards other people and dogs, or over territory, food or toys
- Phobias, of situations, items or people
- General disobedience such as not responding when given a command, walking to heel on the lead, or returning on Recall when out on walk.
- Anxiety behaviours such as chewing, nipping, biting, mouthing, licking, scratching, digging.
- Nervousness, shyness or timidity.
- Urinating/defecating in the wrong places at the wrong times. Eating of faeces.
- Obsessive behaviour towards items or people, tail chasing, or spinning.
